Season 3 “American Idol” winner and Charlotte resident Fantasia Barrino is embarking on a 30-city national tour to promote her new album “Back To Me.” The tour starts in Richmond on Nov. 4 and stops at Ovens Auditorium on Nov. 17. The tour ends New Years in St. Louis.
Three-time Grammy Award nominee Eric Benet and Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter/producer Kandi will open. Subscribers of Fantasia’s newsletter can buy tickets one day earlier than the onsale date. The first round of pre-sales for selected dates begin Sept. 30th at 10 a.m. Go to http://www.fantasiaofficial.com for tour information.
The tour finds Fantasia on the rebound following a public scandal regarding her relationship with Antwaun Cook, who is married. Last month was an August that Fantasia would like to forget. The R&B star endured the release of sex tapes, a lawsuit and an overdose. She rebounded with appearances on “Good Morning America,” “Lopez Tonight,” “Live! With Regis and Kelly,” “106 & Park” and “The Wendy Williams Show.”
The scandal seemed to boost Fantasia’s career. Late that month, she released “Back to Me” which debuted at #1 on the R&B charts and #2 on the Top 200. It was her strongest album debut ever. She’s also in her second season of her VH-1 reality show “Fantasia for Real.” She performs at Ovens on Nov. 17.
