Former federal prosecutor Karen Eady-Williams of Charlotte has been appointed to the District Court bench for the 26th Judicial District. Gov. Bev Perdue named Eady-Williams for the remaining three years of Bill Belk’s term. Belk resigned last year after one contentious year on the bench after he refused to resign from corporate boards in accordance with covenants for N.C. judges, and was accused of judicial misconduct.

“The lawyers in the 26th District sent me a tremendous list of candidates to select from,” Perdue said in a statement. “I am confident that Karen Eady-Williams will serve the people of the 26th District with distinction and professionalism.”
