For years we have anticipated the closing of Eastland Mall.  It has been talked about in the papers and in the streets, but it never happened.  Shoppers still showed up daily.  That all changed when the mall closed its doors yesterday for good.

Houston-based Boxer Property has bought the main section of Eastland Mall for $2million – less than $4 a square foot. The price came in under the $7.7 million the city of Charlotte considered paying in November and far lower than the $54 million sale price in 1998.

The mall might reopen under a new name, but customers say it will never be the same.

Do you have memories of Eastland Mall? If so, please share them with us in the comments below.  We will take a selected few and compile a dedication post next week with all of your memories.
