If you could meet any singer – dead or alive – who would you want to meet? Why?
Would love to meet Prince. He can play ANY instrument but still allows for others to be featured on his work. He has total control but still invites people in.
What song brings back the most memories for you? Why?
The song that brings back the most memories is “Fight the Power” Public Enemy. It reminds me of a time when I began to embrace my culture without explanation and my non-black friends started to understand that pro black did not mean anti-other cultures.
What’s your favorite musical era? Why?
The seventies is my favorite music era. It brings me back to when my parents were alive and there was a lot of family time. Also because the seventies music didn’t seem to separate races. It was no big deal to hear my mom singing Debbie Boone, my sister singing Chaka, or my dad groovin to Bob James. You liked the music because it was just that, good music.
Favorite party music?
Anything by Prince.
What’s your favorite summertime song?
“Magic carpet ride” Steppenwolf. Not a black song, but the song is so hot that you know it was inspired by some black folks!! LOL!
