10 years ago today, U.S. Airways Flight 1549 showed the world what a miracle looks like.
In 2009, the flight took off from LaGuardia Airport in New York City heading to for Seattle, Washington, but it never even got a chance to leave the New York airspace.
Within in minutes, the plane ran into a flock of geese, knocking out the engines and that’s when the calm thinking and expert flying of Captain Chesley Burnett Sullenberger and co-pilot Jeffrey Skiles saved the lives of every single passenger on board. The two were able to safely land the airplane in the Hudson river and evacuated all of the 150 people before the plane sank.
