After Naomi cordially invited Hickam to suck her di** and balls, Hickam let her know who he was and not too long after, Naomi received notice from NASA that her highly-coveted internship offer was revoked.
However, Hickam argues that he had nothing to do with Naomi’s firing. As a matter of fact, he wants to help her get another job in the field.
In a blog post published on Tuesday (that has since been taken down), Hickam wrote:
“I’m a Vietnam vet and not at all offended by the F-word. However, when I saw NASA and the word used together, it occurred to me that this young person might get in trouble if NASA saw it, so I tweeted to her one word: ‘Language’ and intended to leave it at that.”
Hickam went on to say that abuse from Naomi’s “friends” on Twitter caused him to delete his comments and block “all concerned.” He then argues it was the #NASA hashtag Naomi’s “friends” were using in their comments that caused NASA to take notice, which could have led to Naomi’s firing.
“This, I had nothing to do with,” Hickam said. “Nor could I, since I do not hire and fire at the agency or have any say on employment whatsoever.”
Hickam now says that he’s doing all that he can to secure Naomi another opportunity in the aerospace industry.
He said Naomi reached out to him with an “unnecessary apology” and after they talked for a while and after he looked at her resume, Hickam said, “I am certain she deserves a position in the aerospace industry and I’m doing all I can to secure her one that will be better than she lost.”
So it seems this story has a happy ending after all, and Naomi’s #nofilter mouth might get her something even better than NASA.
Naomi still isn’t taking risks though. Since the whole fiasco, she’s set her Twitter account to private so future messages won’t be peeped by potential employers.
So for all you #nofilter people out there, stay honest, stay genuine, but of course, stay wise.
