Considered one of the largest marches in American history, organizers of the 1995 Million Man March reported a 1.7 million voter registration increase. They further reported membership increases in social, fraternal, spiritual, community organizations, and adoption agencies.
Charlotte community organizers, clergy, and citizen groups are supporting the 17th Anniversary of the Million Man March, A Holy Day of Atonement.
Rev. Kojo Nantambu, President, Charlotte NAACP said, “The calling of and advent of the Million Man March, I think was a very profound and prophetic endeavor launched upon by Minister Farrakhan and I think the continuation of the Million Man March celebration is one that is very much needed by this country and our community.”
