President Obama already took an “L” at the beginning of last week but that’s not enough for his detractors.  Now they are complaining about him going overseas. I guess they only want him talking to foreign leaders using Skype.  Critics are saying that his overseas trip will cost 200 million dollars a day.  If that doesn’t get you in the “Mile High Club”, I don’t know what will.  So a U.S. President’s trip to India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan will cost as much as running the daily war in Afghanistan?  These are what economists call “Fuzzy Numbers.”  But I think it’s more than people telling lies and being petty.

It’s obvious that this is still part of the master plan to make Obama a one-term failure.  This “new issue” makes me think his haters are trying to kick it up a notch.  The Republicans have decided they only want him talking to leaders from Mexico and Canada.  Why? Because he can get to both places by riding Greyhound.

Most modern day presidents go overseas and kick it with foreign leaders.  They sit around talking about the NFL and the last episode of “Lost” … and occasionally they try to build on their relationships with trade agreements and other proposals.  It’s not a coincidence your car engine comes from Mexico and your t-shirt says made in Taiwan.  Regardless of how you feel about Free Trade and Globalization, this is what presidents do.  I don’t remember anyone complaining when President George Bush was country hopping.  On one trip, he even had someone throw a shoe at him.  That’s just a step up from having someone spit in your food.

U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann is one of the leaders in the charge against Obama’s expensive trip.  Bachmann is a star on the rise in the Republican Party.  She is fast becoming famous for saying a lot of ignorant things.  And she was just re-elected so apparently they like ignorant in her home district.  I personally think the woman is unhinged but that is a non-medical opinion.

Do we really want our leaders flying coach and staying in youth hotels?  What message would that send to other heads of state?  I can promise you that Japan’s Prime Minster isn’t riding around in a Toyota Prius!!!  I guess we are still in the silly season of politics. This only means the next two years are going to be an absolute mess.
