July marks Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about mental health disparities affecting communities of color. Named after the late author and advocate, the observance highlights the need for accessible, culturally competent mental health care for minority populations. Campbell, who co-founded the National Alliance on Mental Illness Urban Los Angeles, worked to break the stigma surrounding mental illness in Black and underserved communities. Mental health organizations nationwide are hosting events, panels, and outreach efforts throughout the month to promote education, support, and equitable treatment for all.
