Duke Energy Urges North Carolinians to Conserve Power

As extreme heat grips the Carolinas, Duke Energy is urging residents to cut back on electricity use Monday between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to reduce stress on the power grid and avoid possible outages. The utility recommends raising thermostats, delaying use of large appliances, minimizing oven and stove use, and turning off unnecessary lights. According to WCNC, even small efforts can make a big difference, Duke says, helping keep the grid stable during high demand. To stay cooler indoors, the company suggests grilling outside instead of cooking inside. Customers are encouraged to monitor weather updates and follow guidance from Duke Energy.
