Lady Gaga is nominated for a record-breaking 13 MTV Video Music Awards—including Best Pop Video and Best Female Video. Recovering rapper Eminem received eight nominations, including Best Male Video for “Not Afraid.” He currently has the No. 1 single, “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Rhianna.
The list was released earlier this afternoon.
Gaga is the first female artist to be nominated for two different videos in the Video of the Year category with “Bad Romance” and “Telephone,” featuring Beyonce. Gaga’s nominations highlights the entertainment industry’s obession with the over-exposed pop singer. Meanwhile Nikki Minoj, arguably the hottest female rapper, was basically snubbed. The VMA will air Sept. 12.
