It’s really easy to rant about what guys don’t do. Let’s face it: girls are usually the romantic ones in the relationship. But let’s take a step back and think about the sweet things that they do come up with. Whether it’s a note on the mirror telling you that you’re beautiful or a surprise bottle of wine and flowers, those little somethings give you butterflies in your tummy and a cheesy smile that won’t seem to leave your face.
It’s that feeling that you get that can’t be described completely: kind of relief, kind of excitement, lots of appreciation. Signs of affection don’t have to be extravagant and expensive. It can be something as simple as him putting your toothpaste on your toothbrush for you in the morning. Or stepping out of the shower and finding a glass of wine next to your towel.
Something that always makes me giddy are notes. There’s nothing better than waking up to a note taped onto your wall first thing in the morning:

I bought you strawberry yogurt, orange juice, and an iced coffee so you’ll be ready to ace your bio test. I’m probably outside on our porch swing reading. Come have breakfast with me before you get ready! I already have a coat out here for you.

Another thing that guarantees a smile is a surprise visit (this works for both of you!) Ask what they’re up to and spark some conversation. Throw in a “come to the door” and make every muscle in their body loose and tense at the same time. The best is when they get so excited and overwhelmed at once that the feelings are hard to convey in words (leading to an exciting time together!)
Doing cute things like this doesn’t come naturally to guys. It’s important to encourage them and really show them how much you appreciate their valiant efforts. Tell them how much it meant to you to and tell them exactly what it is that makes you smile. Whether it’s the spontaneity or the idea, let them know what gives you the tickle in your tummy.
