The Alaskan news anchor who quit her job live on air two years ago may be rethinking her decision right now.
Charlo Green‘s on-air resignation quickly went viral in September 2014, but the 28-year-old’s “f*ck it” attitude currently has her facing some serious criminal charges.
Greene quit while reporting on a story about the Alaska Cannabis Club after revealing that she was the club’s owner.
Green said she looked forward to “dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with fighting for marijuana here in Alaska. And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice, but f*ck it, I quit.”
But Alaska’s legalization didn’t go into effect until February 2015. Without a job, Greene was selling green illegally and got caught up in two raids and for selling multiple times to undercover officers. According to The Guardian, Greene could face up to 24 years if convicted:
“It’s almost dizzying when you try to make sense of it,” Greene said in an exclusive interview with The Guardian about her upcoming trial. “It could literally cost me the rest of my adult life.”
Court records show that Greene was not directly involved in any of the undercover transactions, but state prosecutors solely charged her, noting that the club was registered under her name.
Greene pleaded not guilty to eight criminal offenses of “misconduct involving a controlled substance,” The Guardian reports. Her trial is set to take place within the coming months.
