Roland Martin talks to the author of Anti Racism in Cuba, Devyn Spence Benson and businessman Troy Nash about the importance of President Obama’s visit to Cuba and why the Americanization of Cuba is on its way.
“This is big news. They love us over there. We are them and they are us. The conversations I’ve had with folks on the ground, they are eager. African-Americans, given the history, will have first dibs at what’s available,” Nash said.
On the racial politics of Afro-Cubans:
“Cuba has its own racial politics. In some ways I hope Obama will understand. They are working on a racial system that has plenty of discrimination and segregation,” Benson said.
