A man was arrested in the shooting and decapitation of his grandmother and her husband at an Oklahoma City home where they operated a day care, police said Wednesday. (Feb. 10)

In a grisly discovery inside a Oklahoma City home day care, an elderly couple was found shot and decapitated, while three children were hidden in the garage, according to CNN.

Quinton Laster, 20, the couple’s grandson, is being held on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Sharon Reed, 59, and James Reed, 78, the report says. He had been living with his grandparents for about two years after being asked to leave his mother’s home, relatives told investigators.

Police uncovered the gruesome scene on Tuesday after arriving at the home for a welfare check. They spotted Laster outside the house and detained him as they went inside to check the premises.

Family members told CNN affiliate KFOR that they were devastated, and they didn’t know what triggered the killing.

“It’s just a shock,” said Brenda Jackson, Sharon Reed’s sister.

“He didn’t deserve it, and she didn’t deserve it,” Jackson said.

The investigation continues and no motive has been revealed in the deaths.
