Prior to the release of the forthcoming N.W.A biopic, Ice Cube will reunite onstage with group members MC Ren and DJ Yella at BET’s Experience concert on June 27 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the rapper recently told Rolling Stone.

“It’s just gonna be a great night,” Ice Cube says. “We’re gonna be there with Snoop, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q. It’s just gonna be one of those ‘I wish I were there in L.A. nights.’ And we’re gonna rock that shit, no problem.”

However, Ice Cube remained somewhat uncertain when asked whether or not Dr. Dre would be performing alongside them come June 27.

“You know, if you wish upon a star, you never know [laughs],” Cube says. “You never know. It’s like, I hope he blesses us with his presence. But if not, I’ve been rockin’ for a long time without anybody. So whoever shows up, I’m still gonna rock. Whoever don’t show up, we still gonna rock.”

It’s been over 15 years since Cube last performed with either Ren or Yella, but he’s excited to get back onstage with his N.W.A colleagues.

“The last time I performed with Yella was 1989,” Cube says. “That was a long time, but with Ren, it was the Up in Smoke Tour [in 2000]. It was real cool to be onstage with him again, but that’s still been 15 years ago. So it’s real cool to get up there and with the excitement around Straight Outta Compton, the movie. I think people are going to just be extra excited to get a glimpse of us.”

Finally, when asked about what he thinks N.W.A’s former manger Jerry Heller will make of the biopic, Cube simply replies: “I don’t care.”

The forthcoming concert is part of a larger four-day festival fully titled “BET Experience at L.A. Live, Presented by Coca-Cola,” scheduled to run from June 25th to the 28th. Various acts including Nicki Minaj, Kevin Hart, Miguel and The Roots are all set to perform throughout the event. You can purchase tickets here.

Straight Outta Compton, the N.W.A biopic co-produced by Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E‘s widow Tomica Woods-Wright, is scheduled to be released on August 14.
