And according to Fortune, the city has some admirable companies and in 2013 five companies in the area made the top 25 list, while another three made the top 100. Pike Market is home to more than 200 food vendors, farmers, and specialty shops. It is Seattle’s number one tourist stop during the year. It’s open year round and who could turn down the tasty treats the market has to offer? They are most known for throwing around fresh fish when they are purchased. Pike proves to be a one of a kind marketplace.
It’s The Home of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
During the 2014 Grammys the duo took home awards for the “Best New Artist” beating out the favorite James Blake. They also swept the rap category with “Best New Rap Song” and “Best Rap Album” beating out hip-hop golden boy and savior, Kendrick Lamar. The duo upset the hip-hop community by winning the awards but was the last time hip hop artists sold more than 500,000 indie albums all while selling more than one million singles of “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us.”
The Seahawks Are The NFL Champs
If you missed the Super Bowl the final score was Seahawks 43, Broncos 8. It was the largest victory in 21 years. The Seahawks released 38 years of frustration of never capturing the ever elusive Vince Lombardi Trophy. They finally brought a championship to the city in 35 long years. The last time the city saw a championship was back when the Sonics were still in town (now the OKC Thunder) and claimed the 1979 NBA title.
