N.C. Republican Chairman Tom Fetzer Thursday called for the resignation of national GOP chairman Michael Steele, saying the party has set “a poor example of the kind of leadership voters can expect if Republicans are elected.”

He’s the first state party leader to ask Steele to step down.

Steele has been under fire since disclosures that the RNC approved a $1,900 bill at a Hollywood nightclub that features topless dancers simulating bondage and lesbian sex.
