Tiger Woods says he’s relieved to be back on the golf course, and admits hitting bottom.

“I haven’t looked forward to that (first) tee shot in a long time,” he said. “Not like this. That’s something that’s been missing.”

During a 30-minute press conference at the Masters, Woods admitted to lying and deceiving a lot of people. He also apologized to fellow golfers for the distractions he’s caused.

Woods answered questions about the car accident and his behavior. That car accident led to rumors of extramarital affairs which exploded into a tabloid and news media frenzy. He eventually went to rehabilitation. He made a public statement in February and admitted to the indiscretions. He did not take questions during that public statement.

During today’s press conference, Woods fielded about 30 questions from the golfing news media. Regarding the infamous car accident, Woods said he suffered a busted lip that required five stitches and a sore neck. He said it took hitting the bottom for him to realize he had a problem and needed therapy. He promised to be nicer to fans and thanked them for their support.

Woods appeared relieved to be back on the green. He said Elin would not be at the tournament, but he was looking forward to playing. Woods said although he’s been winning tournaments and playing competitively, he’s been living a life of lies.

“Living a life where you’re lying all the time, life is not fun,” he said.

Are you planning to watch the Masters now that Tiger’s back? Will you be cheering for him?
