Grandma Virginia was visited by members of the exhibition basketball troupe on Tuesday at the Roots Public Charter School in Washington D.C., where McLaurin volunteers as a foster grandma for the children. Players Moose Weekes and Zeus McClurkin danced for McLaurin and spoke to the children about the importance of education.
Virginia McLaurin, the centenarian who danced with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at a White House Black History Month celebration has another reason to party. Friday marks her 107th birthday.
“I thought I would never live to get in the White House,” Virginia McLaurin exclaims during the meeting.
With a shimmy and a shake, 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin opened her arms wide and gave the Leader of the Free World, a Black man, a huge hug.
