This week, students were alarmed to find that the portraits of Harvard Law School's Black tenured professors were defaced with black gaffer tape.

Campus police released alerts online via Twitter and Facebook assuring the campus was safe. The tweets, posted by the account @keanuagainstblk, were sent shortly after a peaceful rally against racial bias on college campuses.

For years, the Ku Klux Klan have fought to be included in Georgia's "Adopt-A-Highway" program and now they have an unlikely ally.

Already, copycat hate crimes are popping up at universities including Fordham, Bowie State and Howard after the University of Missouri's Black students rose up against racism on campus.

Friday's sentencing came after Conrad Alvin Barrett, 29, plead guilty over the summer. In December 2013, Barrett -- who was 27 at the time -- was charged with a hate crime for punching 79-year-old Roy Coleman, fracturing the man's jaw in two places.
