Anthony Hamilton made a guest appearance at the Fifth Element, the club formerly known as Cans, on Wednesday. DJ 9th Wonder deejayed the party at the club which opened last week.

A couple of guys in South Carolina own Fifth Element. It’s one of the few black-owned uptown clubs. It has a similar vibe to Club 935 and Club Ice. Fifth Element is more than Cans. White sofas replaced the bar booths. It’s set up for VIP table service. Black and white print, floor-to-ceiling drapes cover the windows. Rectangular hanging light fixtures illuminate the club. The patio boasts gray wicker lounge furniture. The most impressive addition is a wooden DJ booth that towers over the dancefloor on the right side of the club. Doormen and security wore black suits which is a change from the typical T-shirt and polo-clad staff found at many urban clubs. The downstairs has little changes.

It’s a nice-looking venue, but it’s big. It’s going be tough to compete with mainstays such as Ice and 935 which tend to draw athletes and celebrity guest.
