Sinkhole Forces Extended Closure of Busy Charlotte Road
A sinkhole has closed a busy west Charlotte road, with officials expecting the closure to last several days.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 3, when a soft spot in the road began to open up. According to WBTV, city and state transportation authorities responded by setting up cones and yellow tape around the sinkhole, blocking off West Morehead Street from Freedom Drive to Suttle Avenue.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has estimated that the road could remain closed until Tuesday, June 10.
