Bechtler Museum to Debut New Immersive Exhibition

A new exhibition at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Uptown Charlotte is reimagining how visitors experience art—especially those who can’t see it. According to WCNC, the multisensory show is a collaboration between New York-based artist Janet Biggs and North Carolina dancer and choreographer Davian Robinson, who is visually impaired. Together with curator Katia Zavistovski, they explored how sound, movement, and touch can engage audiences beyond sight. With support from a team including a spatial audio engineer, physicist, and mathematicians, the exhibition transforms the museum space itself into part of the artwork, inviting all visitors to experience art in new ways.
