State Halts Operations at Lenoir Day Care After Toddler Dies

A Caldwell County child care center was ordered to close Wednesday after a 16-month-old girl died on her first day there, according to WBTV.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services suspended the license of Creative Beginnings of Lenoir, citing an urgent need to protect public health and safety.
The toddler, identified by her mother as Maddy, reportedly suffered cardiac arrest on Monday, May 19, and later died at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. An autopsy is pending.
Lenoir police said the facility is cooperating with the investigation. All subsidized child care payments were also halted.
