A suspect remains on the run after allegedly leading authorities on a car chase through North Carolina that ended with the discovery of a possible bomb. The chase began Tuesday in Robeson County before crossing into Hoke County.

According to WBTV, the suspect fled his vehicle on Balfour Road, running into nearby woods. As state agents pursued him, one discovered what appeared to be a homemade bomb with a trip wire.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) bomb squad was called to the scene, where evidence was collected and the device sent for analysis at a crime lab.

Authorities are searching for a suspect described as an Indian man in his early 30s, approximately 5-foot-7, with tattoos on his neck, and last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt and shorts.
