U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other law enforcement agencies arrested 24 people during an operation in Charlotte from March 1-8. According to WCNC, the arrests involved individuals in the country illegally, with charges including 13 aggravated felonies or other violent offenses, three illegal weapons offenses, and one assault on a federal officer. Two of the suspects are linked to the MS-13 gang. ICE did not release the names of those arrested. The agency also claimed six of the suspects had active immigration detainers that were not honored by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, adding that 18 additional suspects with similar detainers are still at large.
