As a severe weather system approaches the Charlotte area this week, concerns are rising over the potential impact of recent layoffs at federal weather agencies.

According to WBTV, hundreds of employees at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) were let go last week as part of budget cuts by the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by billionaire Elon Musk. The full extent of the layoffs, however, remains unclear.
