It’s another Wellness Wednesday on 105.3 RNB. Today, I’m trying to encourage myself as I encourage you to “LEAVE THE SUGAR ALONE!” I realized that I have a serious problem after gaining 5 pounds from eating all the cookies, cakes and pies I could get my little fingers on!! YES!! I am addicted to sugar! It tastes so good, it makes my toes wiggle! If you’re like me, you must reduce the sugar in your diet because it’s causing rapid weight gain as well as insulin resistance and could cause diabetes. So, not only do we need to monitor the sugar we add to our food, but we must read our food labels and cut out the products that are loaded with sugar. Finding low sugar options will help us reduce our sugar intake. To give you a better perspective, the American Heart Association recommends that men should not consume more than 9 teaspoons (36 grams ) of added sugar per day, while women should not consume more than 6 teaspoons (25 grams) of added sugar per day. So, let’s start reading the labels and watching our sugar intake! That’s today’s Wellness Wednesday Tip of the Day on 105.3 RNB with me, Olympia D!
