R&B/Pop singer Jennifer Lopez is close to signing a deal with Fox’s American Idol, An anonymous source tells the Associated Press.
If accepted, Lopez would replace comedian-talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who recently exited from the hit TV show.
“A couple months ago, I let Fox and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” DeGeneres said in a statement.
DeGeneres went on to say, “loved discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings.”
Audition for the upcoming season is set to kick off in September, so an announcement will be made soon to see if Lopez made the cut.
