The Condeleeza Rice of the Bush Administration was stiff and seemed disconnected from the black community. Post-Bush Condi is turning out to be soul sista’ number 1. The professionally-trained pianist recently teamed with Aretha Franklin for a charity concert in Philadelphia.
Rice was met with cheers and a few boos when she stepped on stage to play a movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor with the Philadelphia Orchestra, according to Billboard magazine.
Rice, now a political science professor at Stanford University, played a duet with Franklin on “Say a Little Prayer for You,” which Franklin introduced by saying: “You didn’t think she could play it, right?” Billboard reported.
