Summer time is about hot sticky days, and humid nights. Fireflys and summer camps. Pool parties and barbeques, but for high students it’s a time to plan for their future. Last week, 70 rising seniors from South Carolina attended a four-day camp at Johnson C. Smith University. College Summit, a national nonprofit, designed the program to encourage college-capable high school students toward enrollment.
“For a lot of these kids, it’s their first time being away from home, and certainly their first time being on a college campus overnight,” said Zenobia Edwards, dean of the JCSU Metropolitan College.
