Uptown Jazz Festival Delivers For Charlotte

Creative Loafing columnist Nsenga Burton attended the Uptown Jazz Festival last month. She enjoyed the event so much she said it made her feel like Charlotte finally delivered on the expectation of being the next Atlanta. Tammy Greene and Charles Whitfield created the event which drew thousands of people to The Fillmore in the N.C. Music Factory. It was one of the few events that cater to African Americans to be held at The Fillmore.
