Charlotte kicked off the national Andre Harrell Superstar Soul search, and set the bar crazy high for other cities on Thursday. During the five-hour competition at the House of Jazz, Harrell learned what fellow judge K-Ci Hailey already knew – Charlotte’s got talent. Harrell even said in an interview later he wasn’t sure if Atlanta (Saturday) will produce the type of talent he saw here.
The contest drew more than two dozen singers from across the region to compete for a grand prize that includes a record deal and $10,000. The competition was so good here that Harrell expanded the second round to include 13 contestants rather than 10. He expanded the final round to include five contestants instead of three. And in the end there was a tie for first place.
