VIA CHARLOTTE OBSERVER

Charlotte-based No Grease Inc. founders CEO Damian Johnson and his twin brother, CFO Jermaine Johnson, are organizing a barber trade show scheduled for Sept. 27-28 at the Park Expo Conference Center.

It will give small businesses in the barber industry, and other related industries, the opportunity to exhibit and market their products and services to an estimated audience of 10,000 attendees.

The opening day is reserved for education classes and training along with vendor displays, a youth fashion show, and a workshop on small business development given by Mecklenburg County Commissioner Harold Cogdell and business consultant Jim McKnight.

Events continue the next day and culminate with an evening ceremony honoring barbers across the country with 50 years of active service, including invited guests A.D. Neal of Charlotte; James Wilder of Sumpter, S.C.; and Tennessee barber Vernon Winfrey (the man Oprah calls her father).

The ceremony is followed by an amateur and professional hair cutting competition of students from barber school across the country along with licensed barbers.

For information on classes and registration, call Jim McKnight at 803-237-6522 or Charlie Petty at 704-343-4561.
