Tonight, county commissioners will hold the first of four scheduled budget workshops to receive input about proposed cut. Leaders from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Central Piedmont Community College will speak tonight, but on Thursday the public will have a chance to speak at a public hearing.
The other workshops will be held in June.
The proposed spending plan includes $81.1 million in cuts to county services, education and other services, including about 440 layoffs. County commissioners are set to approve it June 15.
The public hearing is 6 p.m. Thursday at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.
