The City of Chicago is making good on its threat to sue Empire actor Jussie Smollett over his claims of being the target of a racist and homophobic attack. City officials had threatened to sue if Smollett didn’t cover the costs of the investigation after police accused him of faking the attack. The lawsuit claims Smollett planned the attack with two brothers and filed a false police report. Smollett was charged for filing a false report, but those charges were abruptly dropped. Police and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel were not happy about the decision by prosecutors. Smollett maintains he was telling the truth.
