According to TMZ, the autopsy report, says that Kristoff St. John was dealing with heart disease and abusing alcohol, at the time of his death.
The report also says that the actor had just been discharged from a mental health facility only 2 days before his death and that he had been threatening to hurt himself.
The official cause of death is listed as hypertrophic heart disease and is being consider as “accidental” because Kristoff was apparently on an alcohol binge at the time of his death.
Kristoff’s death came near the anniversary of his son’s death and had driven him into a deep depression.
St. John had played Neil Winters on ‘Y&R’ since the 90’s and earned 9 Daytime Emmy Award nominations for the role and won 10 NAACP Image Awards.
Rest in Peace with your son, Kristoff.
