Emmy awarding actress, Viola Davis, is preparing to bring the life and times of political activists, Shirley Chisholm, to the big screen.

Davis is set to star in and produce the project about Chisholm, who became the first black woman ever elected to the United States Congress in 1968 and the first woman to seek the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination several years later.

The film, titled “The Fighting Shirley Chisholm,” will reportedly be directed by Maggie Betts.
