Janet Jackson recently appeared at the 2018 MTV European Music Awards this weekend to accept the Global Icon Award.
During her acceptance speech, Ms Jackson, delivered a powerful message referencing the “Me Too” movement and gender inequality around the world.
While picking up Global Icon Award, the legendary singer said that she spoke on behalf of women everywhere who have been ‘gagged.’
The speech was greeted by heart-felt tears and enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.
Now that Janet’s work has been recognized with a MTV EMA Global Icon Award, she joins the likes of Whitney Houston, U2, Eminem, Bon Jovi and Queen.
Later on that night, Jackson wowed fans with a barefoot performance of a medley of her greatest hits.
