It has long been a belief that Kenny “The Jet” Smith is most definitely one of the cleanest brothers in the sports analyst position on television today. You can always find Smith on Inside the NBA on TNT looking quite the dapper gent in his attire. Always one who deftly mixes bold colors and interesting patterns, Smith executed a sartorial maneuver only seasoned stylish veterans could flawlessly perform. Underneath his sport coat, Smith smartly layered a half- zip sweater over his dress shirt & necktie. This particular presentation was an intelligent spin on the classic suit & necktie combination. Such as the picture above, a variety of cool sweaters can be deployed for an effortless & clean look. Half-zip. Full zip. Button-up. V-neck. Crew neck.

However, keep these two rules in mind:

1) The gent would be wise to wear a sport coat. Partnering a sweater under a business suit is especially risky. Even if you can pull it off, I would not try it too often. Sport coats are a little more informal and can be combined with more pattern & color.

2) Keep the sweaters relatively light. Chunky sweaters can add bulk to your frame and hinder movement. Fine gauge knits such as cashmere and lambswool are fine choices. Whether layered over a dress shirt & necktie or worn simply over a sport shirt; the dynamic duo of sweater and sport jacket will surely be an instant eye catcher to the passing public. And you just might look as smooth as Kenny “The Jet” Smith.
