Adele was the big winner at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, but even she had Beyoncé on the brain.

The songstress delivered an epic speech after winning the Grammy for Album of the Year over Beyoncé’s Lemonade, and to further show her conviction that Bey should be taking home the award, Adele broke her Grammy in half while onstage.

According to PEOPLE, the “Hello” singer addressed the epic moment in the Grammy press room, revealing, “Like I said in my speech, my album of the year is Lemonade. So a piece of me did die inside, as a Beyoncé stan — not going to lie. I was completely rooting for her, I voted for her. I felt like it was her time to win. What the f— does she have to do to win album of the year?”

She added, “I felt this album … showed another side to her that we haven’t seen and I felt blessed to be brought into that situation. Obviously the visual is very new and the Grammys are very traditional. But I just thought this year would be the year that they would kind of go with the tide. And I am of course very, very grateful having won it. But I felt the need because I love her, because I felt like she was more than worthy.”

Although Beyoncé didn’t take home the “big” award, she still left with two twin Grammys. The irony. Check out what else Adele had to say in the video above.
