Lamar Odom is on the path to getting his life back in order, but not before revisiting the drama of his past.

In a new interview with Travis Stork of The Doctors, the former NBA star finally opened up about his mental state the day he was hospitalized after falling into a drug-induced coma. When asked what he remembers about that night, L.O. replied, “Being in that damn brothel and thinking I was going to just rest a little bit. I wasn’t in a good place mentally before that incident happened. Me and my wife (Khloe Kardashian) at the time were going through some things. I was in a dark place.”

But despite the very dark point in his life, Lamar believes he survived the health scare so that he can share his story with others, saying, “I guess they say everything happens for a reason. I guess the reason is I’m here I can tell the story.” He recalled to Stork, “I didn’t know [I was in a coma] until Khloé told me that I was in a coma. I couldn’t even speak at the time. I couldn’t talk. Nothing would come out of my mouth, so I was scared.”

Lamar’s interview will not air until January, but the show released a preview of the highly anticipated conversation. Stork says the former Laker was “surprisingly clear headed and very very open with the demons that he’s battled.” He added, “No one was forcing him to go [to rehab]. He, of his own accord and with a clear mind, decided this is what he needed to do to recover his life.”

As we previously reported, Lamar has opted to check himself back into rehab, voluntarily. He’s also gearing up for his own reality show. Check out a preview clip of the interview above.
