A Pizza Hut employee shot an armed robber Sunday morning here in the Queen City. On this past Sunday, October 30th after closing hours, three men walked into a Pizza Hut in west Charlotte and attempted to rob the business. One man pulled a gun out on employees and in turn one of the employees pulled his personal weapon out and fired back, striking the robber, later identified as 28-year-old Michael Grace Jr.

Grace was struck in the head and died at the scene. Grace’s parents, Temia Hairston and Michael Grace Sr. say that thought they don’t condone their son’s actions, the employee should be in jail. Saying that it is the place of law enforcement, not a Pizza Hut employee to enforce protection of the business.

Pizza Hut released this statement:

“The local Pizza Hut franchisee is fully cooperating with the Charlotte Police Department as they continue their investigation, but want to stress that the security of its staff is of utmost concern. They are providing support to the team members involved to ensure their health and well-being following this incident. The employee involved in the shooting has been placed on a leave of absence following further review.”
