Drake University students started the #BringDrakeToDrake campaign to compel the Toronto rapper to visit his “namesake” university in Des Moines, Iowa, and last night, they were sort of successful.
We all know how RiRi‘s boo likes to leave us Blues Clues, and Tuesday evening was no different, as he showed up to his Des Moines Summer Sixteen tour stop decked out in Drake University gear. Clearly, he’d heard about the campaign and planned on visiting campus…right?
Unfortunately, he didn’t show and the institution ended up releasing this sad, sad PSA:
Like the trickster he is, Drake showed his face in the middle of the night just as everyone lost hope. “Look. Kappa Kappa Gamma, I’m outside your sorority house now and you’re all asleep,” Drake said outside of the Greek houses. The rapper revealed himself via Instagram stories while visiting two sororities: “Kappa Alpha Theta we out here waiting on you. We waiting on you!”
Drake University was founded by Francis Marion Drake, which explains the name kerfuffle. Either way, there’s a new Drake in town and (maybe) he’s here to stay.
