We love actor Nate Parker! He was phenomenal in his last film, Beyond The Lights which was unfortunately underrated at the box office. We haven’t seen since Parker on many red carpets or at any awards shows because he’s been busy preparing for his directorial debut!
His upcoming film,The Birth Of A Nation, about Nat Turner’s rebellion is one of the most highly anticipated projects of 2016. Instead of waiting for a major movie studio to green light the movie, Nate raised the funds to do it independently. In addition to acting in the film, he’s also the writer, director and producer!
The Birth Of A Nation also starring Gabrielle Union, Aunjanue Ellis (Quantico) and Aja Naomi King (How To Get Away With Murder) will debut in January at the Sundance Film Festival.
It’s no secret that Hollywood loves certain types of films during awards season. We wonder if The Birth Of A Nation will be Nate and Gabrielle’s “breakout role” similar to Lupita Nyong’o‘s whirlwind career following the success of 12 Years A Slave.
