ISIS is now targeting unemployed young people in Ghana, using cash and the promise of getting into heaven as bait. Locals have been on edge since news broke of a young recent college graduate leaving Ghana to go to join ISIS; some are afraid that the story is an initial sign of a mass exodus and militant violence coming into the country after having earned a reputation of a stable and settled democracy. What’s more, the Boko Haram may try to exert their influence in the area by 2016 as well. The young man recruited by ISIS, Nazir Alema Nortey, graduated from one of Ghana’s best universities. Family members describe him as an ordinary, gentle and well-mannered person. Read more at Quartz.
