President Obama conducted a presidential news conference today in the White House’s East Room and while taking questions from reporters, Obama, in a surprising turn of events, opened up about the Bill Cosby sexual assault allegations.

Cosby received the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor one could receive and when asked about revoking Cosby’s medal, President Obama said, “there is no precedent for revoking the U.S. Medal of Freedom.”

Obama declined to address the allegations, but he did say:

“I’ll say this. If you give a woman — or a man, for that matter — without his or her knowledge a drug, and then have sex with that person without consent, that’s rape. And I think this country, any civilized country, should have no tolerance for rape.”

Cosby previously said in a 2005 sealed deposition that he obtained prescription sedatives to give to women he intended to have sex with. Even though there have been over 30 women who have come out with allegations, Cosby has never been charged and denies sexual assault allegations.

Well at least the president knows where he stands. Maybe this will continue to help Whoopi Goldberg wrap her head around “rape-rape?”
