R&B singer Keri Hilson is weighing in on the Rachel Dolezal discussion, but her comments are rubbing some of her fans the wrong way.

Unlike most who added their two cents to the topic of Spokane, Washington NAACP chapter president Rachel Dolezal masquerading as a Black woman for years before being outed by her parents as Caucasian last week, Keri’s views on the issue were somewhat objective. Her initial notion that we should all thank Rachel Dolezal because she does more for Black people than we do for ourselves, of course, resulted in the most backlash.

After noticing the negative reactions to her tweets, she attempted to clarify her thoughts by emphasizing that she does agree that Rachel Dolezal may have “serious issues,”  but she doesn’t think her intentions or efforts to positively impact the African-American community should be discredited.

Coming to the defense of a White woman pretending to be Black so she could more effectively lead a local chapter of an organization founded to advocate for fair and equal rights for African-Americans is an uphill battle that we don’t think even Keri could win, point or no point.
