Charlotte residents of North Charlotte and beyond can rejoice today as the long-awaited extension to 485 opens today. The 5.7 mile stretch will open this afternoon, significantly behind schedule. The NCDOT was projected to complete 485 last year, but weather delays prevented that. The speed limit set on the North Charlotte Outer Loop will be 70 mph.
